At Kings, we aim to build church the way they did in the Bible. In the New Testament, there were two types of leader in every local church. There were elders (also called ‘overseers’ or ‘pastors’), men who took the ultimate responsibility for leading, teaching, caring for and protecting the church. Then there were ‘deacons’, men and women who worked alongside the elders to help them, by running and co-ordinating various aspects of church life. Together, these two groups form our leadership team.
Graham Marsh leads the team at Kings. He moved down to Eastbourne to be part of the church in 1998, and became an elder in 2005, taking over the leadership of the team later that year. Graham has a passion to see mission and freedom ingrained in everything the church does, and carries the primary responsibility for the vision of the church, for the Sunday morning meetings, and for the development of leaders. He and his wife Belinda have two children, Jake and Beth, and live in Hampden Park.
Dave Dean is an elder and oversees the Outreach and Evangelism at Kings Church. He and his wife June have been here since 1989, have run countless Alpha courses in that time, and have seen numerous people saved, baptised and added to the church. In addition to heading up evangelism, Dave oversees the welcome and integration components of church life and is spearheading the Kings Seaford meeting. He and June have two grown-up children and four grandchildren, and live in Golden Cross.
Andrew Wilson became an elder in December 2008 and is responsible for Teaching and Training at Kings. He moved to Eastbourne in 2003 to run Impact, the church-based year out project, and to get married to his wife Rachel. Since then, he has gradually increased his job description to cover Sunday teaching, training materials, Equip courses and overseeing the twenties work in the church. Andrew has two theology degrees, and has also published three books, Deluded by Dawkins, Incomparable and God Stories. He and Rachel live in Old Town with their son Zeke and daughter Anna.
Chris Hartingdon oversees Community Life, and loves seeing people find a home and get rooted into local church. With his wife Julie, he moved to Eastbourne from Northampton in 2000, since then they have run Life Groups, Alpha courses, and numerous events. Chris came on staff in 2006, and is now responsible for the Life Groups at Kings, as well as various community programmes, events and courses. He and Julie have two teenage daughters, Alice and Emily, and live in Roselands.
David Gamester looks after all the church’s Administration. He and his wife Alison have been part of the church since 1992, and in 2002 David left his job as a Financial Advisor to work for Kings. A superb administrator, he now manages the office, the finances, the building and the Conference Centre, not to mention a number of staff, and keeps it all running smoothly. David and Alison have three grown-up sons, and live in Old Town.

Since moving to Eastbourne ten years ago she has been involved in nearly everything the church does: pastoral work, youth work, teaching, Alpha, Key Skills courses and children’s work, to name a few. For ten years she worked as a senior therapist in community mental health, and now oversees all the specialist pastoral work that goes on at Kings. She and Graham, with their children Jake and Beth, live in Hampden Park. |
Andy Thorpe oversees the Worship, Creative Arts and Media Communication within the church. He and his wife Lynn came to us in 1999. Andy joined the staff at Kings in February 2009, after working as a Director of a Christian media and music company based in Eastbourne. An outstanding musician, Andy has led worship for many years, run training programmes, organised the Strand of Gold events, and overseen the development of the creative arts at Kings. He and Lynn have two boys, Dan and Josh, and live in the Redoubt.

Since September 2004 Julie has been running the Focus, Parent & Toddler groups on a Tuesday and Friday mornings. She has also been involved with daytime Alpha courses and helping to run parenting courses. Julie also oversees the Under fives children’s work on Sunday mornings and for the last three years has headed up the catering team at Newday feeding up to one hundred hungry young people! In her spare time Julie works two days a week at Hazel Court School helping children with severe learning difficulties. |
June Dean has been at Kings since 1989. Along with her husband Dave, they oversee Evangelism and have run many Alpha courses and seen numerous people saved, baptised and added to the church. June & Dave have two grown-up children and four grandchildren, and live in Golden Cross.
Terri Belsey is one of the founder members of Kings Eastbourne, having been with us since 1989. Four years ago Terri started Inspire, the over sixties work with the strap line, ‘for all young people over 60’. Not only has Inspire become enormously popular, but Terri’s heart and passion for this group of people has meant the Inspire Team has seen many people saved and added to the church as a result. Terri has two grown up children, seven grandchildren and is married to Colin and they live in Eastbourne.
Jez & Amy Field lead the youth work and are part of a wider team that oversees youth and twenties at Kings. They have lived in Eastbourne for five years and been married for three years with their first son/daughter arriving shortly. Jez came to Kings to lead the children's work and has since taken responsibility for both the children's and youth work. He is a keen squash player and determines one day to conquer the Hampden Park squash ladder, something that to date he's yet to do. Amy moved to Kings with Jez and spent a year doing 'Impact' a gap year in children's and youth work. Initially she joined Jez in leading the children's work and now together with Jez, enjoys leading the youth programme. She works part-time for a local charity and manages to squeeze all of her church involvement into the time she has left over.
